John Blinn
M.Div., is a retired pastor in the United Methodist Church. A spiritual director and spiritual retreat leader with CompanionSpirit, he has produced three musical CDs. John's commitment to fighting HIV and AIDS has led to volunteer service in India, Thailand, Kenya, and Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Ben Galloway
M.D., well-known Denver retired forensic pathologist, served twenty counties in Colorado, and serves on the Board of Belle Bonfils Foundation. Previously he was Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Deputy Coroner of Denver, and served on the pathology staff of Denver General. Denver Health Foundation named him a 2012 Denver Health Star.

William Graf
J.D., Golden, Colorado, has been a pro-bono, non-voting attorney for the Center since its inception in 2006. A partner at Brant, Stevens & Graf, LLC, Bill is engaged in AIDS work in Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda, and is an active member of the Rotary Club and the United Methodist Church of Evergreen.

Clietta Terry
M.A. holds a B.A. in Sociology from Grambling State University, as well as an M.A. in Human Resource Development and Management from Webster University. She has been supportive in all respects of the Center for Health and Hope for 10+ years and is the current Volunteer Coordinator. Her lengthy professional career included work as a Counselor and Employment Specialist with Denver and Arapahoe County. Throughout her adult life she has served in leadership roles with numerous non-profit organizations, currently serving on the Board of Trustees at Park Hill United Methodist Church.

Claudia Svarstad
J.D. Denver, Colorado and Tucson, Arizona, has been Vice President of the National Farmer’s Union, active in Bread for the World, the Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network, and treasurer of the Alliance to End Hunger. She has traveled to India and Kenya to visit AIDS projects and to various international conferences focused on world hunger. Claudia has helped to organize over 20 golf tournaments in both Arizona and Colorado to benefit the Center and its programs.

Larry Sondgeroth
B.S. in Organizational Leadership. Larry graduated from Vincennes University with an Associate’s degree in finance before attending Purdue University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership with a minor in finance. His work background has included manufacturing, mortgage banking and he has spent the last 15+ years selling residential real estate in the Denver Metro area. Larry has volunteered and served on various boards. Organizations that he has assisted include Colorado Business Council (Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce), Harmony-A Colorado Chorale, Project Angel Heart Bread and Butter Club committee, Denver Board of Realtors Government Affairs Committee, Junior Achievement, and the Park Hill Home tour committee.

Elizabeth Scott
M.A. in Counseling Psychology and AAS in Radiography. Liz is a Radiologic Technologist with UC Health. Liz loves to travel, including a 2025 trip to Kenya with the Center for Health and Hope. She is currently a member of the Center's Kenya Kommittee and will be co-chairing the 2026 Spring is a Time for H.O.P.E. brunch at the University of Denver. She helps rescue dogs and cats, and appreciates jewelry design and gemology when she's not working or volunteering

Donald E. Messer
Ph.D. President Emeritus and Henry White Warren Professor Emeritus of Practical Theology at The Iliff School of Theology, Denver, Colorado, is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Founder and former Executive Director of the Center for Health and Hope. Speaking and leading workshops has taken him to more than 30 countries around the world. He is the author of 15 books including: Breaking the Conspiracy of Silence: Christian Churches and the Global AIDS Crisis (2004), 52 Ways to Create An AIDS-Free World (2009), Names Not Just Numbers: Facing Global AIDS and World Hunger (2010), and Celebrating God's Love: Living into Christian Unity and Interreligious Relationships (2015). His 2005 book, Ending Hunger Now: A Challenge to Persons of Faith, was co-authored with Senators George S. McGovern and Bob Dole.

Ashirafu Tuyishime
A graduate of Agahozo Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda, Tuyishime is a Nursing and Biology student at Abilene Christian University focused on public health and supporting vulnerable children

Shirley Whipple Struchen
Shirley is an honorary life member of the World Association for Christian Communication for service to the cause of ecumenical and interfaith communication. She served as Executive Director of the Religion Communicators Council from 2001 to 2021.

Mintu Kumar Rai
From Kolkata, India, Mintu received his education and boarding at the Snehakunja Children's Home, and with the support of the Center and others, quickly became a top student.
Mintu is currently studying at Dordt University in Iowa.

Dr. Pauline Muchina
From Kenya, Dr. Muchina is based in Washington, D.C., and is on the staff of the United Methodist Board of Church and Society. She founded the African Women & Youth Initiative and the Future African Leaders Project.

Dr. Mary Elizabeth Moore
Dr. Moore is Professor Emerita of Theology and Education and Dean Emerita of the School of Theology, Boston University.

Jim Mitulski, MDiv, DD
Major Gifts Officer of the Center for LGBTQ & Gender Studies (Pacific School of Religion), Mitulski's international travel related to HIV includes time in Australia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

Rev. Dr. M. Kent Millard
A retired senior pastor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dr. Millard has also served as the President of United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio

Senator Tom Daschle
Honorary Chairperson and former United States Senator from the state of South Dakota from 1987 to 2005. During his final ten years of tenure, he led the Senate Democratic Caucus as Senate Minority Leader and Majority Leader.
